Manager Spotlight: Yanet Del Sol, Office Manager at LG Dental Centre
From a passion for dentistry to a role in leadership. CDS thanks Yanet Del Sol for her exemplary leadership in our organization.
Tell us about yourself. How did you get started in the dental industry?
It all started in 2004, when I became a certified dental assistant. I thrived in a practice environment and I was incredibly keen on sharpening my skills and learning more about the industry. This led me to continue furthering my education with a diploma in Dental Hygiene from Oxford North College in 2007. I practiced as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) for seven years.
How did your relationship with CDS help you advance your career goals?
In my earlier years of clinical administrative work, I joined another dental services organization (DSO) which showed me the value of working with a larger organization to assist dental teams. This gave me a start in the world of corporate dentistry, and in 2018, I had the amazing opportunity to join the team at CDS with a position leading one of their offices.
Working at CDS showed me that I had a future in management. With close-knit support and a truly supportive group of teams and leaders across the country, my career has flourished, giving me further experience in managing clinical operations on an even wider scale, and I’m grateful for it.
What does being a leader mean to you?
Being in this position has taught me to lead by example. My teams know that I am always there to assist them and to support them in developing their goals.
CDS supports the growth and education of its staff and leadership and is an organization that actively strives to create structures of support for each team member. I’ve been taught that our priority is focused on the well-being of our patients as well as the well-being of our teams.
What does being a part of the CDS team mean to you?
It has shown me what it’s like to be part of something bigger, and it’s exciting. It has also shown me that with a supportive organization, significant opportunities are available for you that you may not have yet considered. It was a difficult decision to pause my vocation as dental hygienist, but the experience I’ve gained over the last few years showed me my potential for leadership, and I’m looking forward to what the coming years will bring to CDS.
